DIY Driver respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
What We Collect
Information you give us: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number, collected to process and deliver your order and to contact you about it. If you email us, we keep that correspondence.
Payment information: payments are processed by our third-party payment providers. We never see or store your full card number. We receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded and a transaction reference.
Collected automatically: IP address, browser type and version, device information, referring page, and the pages you visit, gathered through cookies and analytics.
How We Use Your Data
- To process, pack, and ship your order
- To send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and service messages
- To respond to support enquiries and handle returns and warranty claims
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse
- To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third-party marketers.
Who We Share Data With
Only where necessary to fulfil your order or operate the site:
- Payment providers — to process your payment securely
- Shipping carriers — your name, address, and phone number, so the parcel can be delivered and tracked
- Analytics providers — aggregated, largely anonymised usage data
- Our hosting and email infrastructure providers — who process data on our behalf under contract
- Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep items in your cart, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure site usage through analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but checkout and your cart will not function correctly without them.
Data Retention
Order records are retained for as long as necessary to meet accounting, tax, and warranty obligations. Support correspondence is retained while it remains useful for handling follow-up. Analytics data is retained in aggregate. You may ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time, subject to records we are legally required to keep.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Security
The site is served over encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL). Payments are handled by PCI-DSS compliant providers and card data is tokenised. Access to customer data within our own systems is restricted to those who need it to fulfil orders and provide support. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store more than we need.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
International Transfers
We ship internationally, and our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards with those providers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
