The questions we get most, answered properly. If yours is not here, email [email protected].
Will this part fit my car?
Check the fitment notes on the product page first — where we have verified fitment it is listed by year, make, model, and trim. Trim matters. The same model and year can take different parts depending on the package, particularly for anything that talks to the vehicle’s data bus.
If a listing does not give verified fitment for your vehicle, email us your full vehicle details before ordering. We would rather tell you we do not know than have you find out at the connector.
Why do some parts need a resistor or a bypass module?
Modern cars monitor their bulbs and electronics and will throw a dashboard warning (a CANbus error) if the electrical load changes. LED bulbs draw far less power than the halogen they replace, so the car thinks the bulb has failed. A load resistor or a CANbus-ready bulb corrects the reading. The same principle applies to radios that need a data-bus adapter to keep steering wheel controls working.
Where a part needs one of these, it is stated in the listing. If it is not stated and you are unsure, ask.
How hard is the install?
Roughly three tiers:
- Plug-in — wireless CarPlay adapters, phone mounts, most dash cams using a 12V socket. Minutes, no tools beyond your hands.
- Fuse tap or splice — dash cam hardwire kits, some lighting. An hour, basic hand tools, and a fuse tap. Reversible.
- Panel removal — head units, speakers, hardwired cameras routed through trim. An afternoon, trim tools, and a willingness to pull interior panels. Doable in a driveway, but read the whole procedure first.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. See our Shipping Policy for processing times, rates, and how customs works.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days. Standard delivery is typically 7 to 14 business days for US addresses and 10 to 21 business days internationally, depending on destination and customs. You get a tracking number by email when the order ships.
Who pays import duty?
The buyer. Import duties, taxes, and customs handling fees are levied by your country on arrival and are not collected by us. Check with your local customs office before ordering if the amount matters to you.
What if the part does not fit after all?
If we told you it fits and it does not, that is on us — email us and we will cover the return and get you the right part. If you ordered without confirming fitment and it turns out not to fit, the normal return window applies: unused, in original packaging, within 30 days. See our Refund Policy.
What is the warranty?
12 months against manufacturing defects, from the date of delivery. See our Warranty page for what is covered and what is not.
Can I return something I have already installed?
Once a part has been installed and used, it can no longer be returned as a change of mind. If it is faulty, that is a warranty claim instead — and installing it does not void the warranty. Opening a package to inspect the part is fine; fitting it to the car is what ends the change-of-mind window.
Do you have a physical shop?
No. DIY Driver is an online-only retailer. All orders ship from our warehouse.
How do I track my order?
You get a tracking link by email when your order ships. You can also paste the tracking number into 17track, which follows most international carriers in one place.
Something is wrong with my order. What now?
Email [email protected] with your order number and photos or video of the problem. For damaged or faulty items, contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We arrange the replacement or refund — you do not need to return the item first.
